Kidding Date Calculator
Most farms breed when the buck is available and take whatever date follows. Working backwards from the market you actually want to sell into is worth more per animal than almost anything else you can change.
Running a tight mating window
- Flush the does — two weeks of better feed before the buck goes in.
- Keep the buck with the group for one full cycle, 17 to 21 days.
- Record every mating you actually see.
- Remove the buck on the closing date so kidding stays compressed.
A two-week kidding window is far easier to staff and supervise than one spread over two months.

Why timing pays
The same kid, two prices
A Beetal male born in January reaches roughly 40 kg by the following Eid and sells into the strongest market of the year. The same kid born in April is 10 kg lighter at the same moment and sells four months later into a flat market. Nothing about the animal changed — only the date it was conceived.

Common questions
Before you rely on it
How far ahead should I plan?
At least seven months for a kid you want to sell at a specific date: five months of gestation plus the growing period. For Eid stock, decisions made in August determine what you sell the following June.
Can does be bred at any time of year?
Most Pakistani breeds cycle year round, but heat is less reliable in the hottest weeks. Breeding in October and November gives the most consistent conception rates.
What about the doe's recovery?
Allow at least eight weeks between kidding and the next mating, and closer to twelve for a first-time doe. Three kiddings in two years is achievable; two a year is not.
