Farm Planning
Growth Calculator
Setting a target weight is easy; knowing whether it is achievable is the useful part. This plots the required curve against what the breed actually does, so you find out in August rather than the week before Eid.
Keeping animals on the curve
- Deworm before the cycle starts and again at 90 days.
- Group animals by size so the small ones get their share.
- Weigh on the same day each month, before feeding.
- Adjust the ration when the animal is 5% behind, not 20%.
Current and target
The gap and the deadline set the average daily gain required.
Animal and management
Breed ceilings decide whether the required gain is realistic.
Costs
Optional — turns the gain into feed spend and market value.

Early gain is mostly muscle and frame. Past about 70% of mature weight the animal lays down fat, which takes far more feed per kilogram.
Achievable
Comfortably within what a Beetal does on this management level, with about 22% headroom. Weigh monthly and adjust the ration when the animal is 5% behind.

Record this month's weight
Two tape measurements keep the curve honest. Saved weights plot automatically on this chart.
Build the ration that delivers the gain
The feed calculator works backwards from a target gain to the exact daily quantities and cost.
Realistic rates
What each breed can actually gain
Daily gain figures quoted in advertising are usually from research stations with controlled rations. These are the rates achieved on commercial Pakistani farms with good but ordinary management.
| Breed | Typical gain | Good management | Mature weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| BeetalYours | 95 g/day | 130 g/day | 60–75 kg |
| Kamori | 90 g/day | 125 g/day | 55–70 kg |
| Dera Din Panah | 88 g/day | 120 g/day | 55–68 kg |
| Rajanpuri | 82 g/day | 112 g/day | 50–62 kg |
| Barbari | 58 g/day | 78 g/day | 30–38 kg |
| Teddy | 52 g/day | 72 g/day | 28–35 kg |
Common questions
Before you rely on it
Why does gain slow down as the animal grows?
Early gain is mostly muscle and frame, which is cheap to add. Past about 70% of mature weight the animal starts laying down fat, which takes far more feed per kilogram. Pushing past that point rarely pays.
How often should I weigh?
Monthly is enough to spot a problem while there is still time to fix it. Weekly weighing mostly measures gut fill, not growth.
The animal is behind the curve. What now?
Check for worms first — it is the most common cause and the cheapest to fix. Then check that concentrate is actually reaching the animal rather than the dominant ones in the pen.
