Health & Vaccination Planner
Vaccination is the cheapest insurance in livestock farming — a full year of protection costs less than a tenth of one animal. The hard part is remembering what is due and for which group, which is exactly what this calendar handles.
Vaccinating properly
- Keep the vaccine cold from the pharmacy to the pen.
- Use a clean needle for every ten animals, minimum.
- Inject subcutaneously behind the shoulder unless the label says otherwise.
- Record the date, batch number and animals treated the same day.
Vaccinate in the cool of the morning. Animals handled in the afternoon heat are more likely to react.
Withdrawal periods
Several dewormers require 14 to 28 days before milk or meat can be used. Plan treatments so they do not clash with a sale date or Eid.
Animal
Age sets when first doses fall; the calendar fills in from there.
Herd context
Last vaccination anchors annual boosters; region notes local disease pressure.

What you are protecting against
Four diseases account for the great majority of preventable losses in Pakistani goat herds. All four have effective, inexpensive vaccines available through licensed veterinary pharmacies.
Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR)
PKR 90/animalHighly contagious viral disease with mortality up to 80% in unvaccinated kids. One annual dose.
Enterotoxaemia
PKR 65/animalSudden death in fast-growing animals on rich feed. Two doses, then annual boosters.
Contagious Caprine Pleuropneumonia (CCPP)
PKR 110/animalRespiratory disease that spreads rapidly in housed herds. Annual vaccination.
Internal parasites
PKR 42/animalNot a vaccine but the largest single drag on growth. Deworm two to three times a year.
Common questions
Before you rely on it
Can I vaccinate pregnant does?
Most core vaccines are safe in pregnancy, and an enterotoxaemia booster at around day 120 is actively recommended because immunity passes to the kids through colostrum. Check the label; a few products are contraindicated.
How do I keep vaccines cold on the way home?
Carry an ice pack in a small cooler and use the vaccine the same day. A vaccine that has warmed up is not a weak vaccine — it is no vaccine at all.
New animals arriving on the farm?
Quarantine for 21 days away from the herd, deworm on arrival and vaccinate before mixing. Most disease outbreaks arrive with bought-in stock.
Does this replace a vet?
No. It is a scheduling tool built on standard regional protocols. Your vet should adjust it for local disease pressure and anything specific to your herd.
